A Disney television musical that has been popularized by fun music and lovable characters has now been brought to The Orpheum Stage by the students of the Youth Musical Production class. Gabriella Montez is a shy, studious new student at East High School; but that all changes when she is forced to sing at a karaoke contest with Troy Bolton, the captain of the school's basketball team. After spending time with each other, both realize they share a passionate love for music and singing. They secretly decide to audition for their school's musical, a decision that turns both their worlds and their school upside down. Can they retain their love for singing and maintain their friendships when their school is telling them no?
